For two decades, the Project has supported educators establishing reading and writing workshops in which teachers act as mentors and coaches to children. Students receive substantial written responses to their work from their professors and classmates; they also have regularly scheduled one-on-one conferences with faculty.

A whole class mini-lesson, which is no longer than 10 minutes, is used to teach students an important reading strategy that they can apply a few minutes later and reference in the future when they need it.
